Participated in the international symposium held in Beijing

 On December 8, 2011, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Korea Capital Market Institute jointly held the international symposium "Post-crisis Restructure of International Financial System: The Role of Asia" in Beijing. Mr. Sakuma, our General Manager and Chief Economist, was invited as a speaker and presented the speech titled "Monetary Co-operations in Asia: Lessons from the experience of the euro and Japan." The experts and scholars from Japan, China and Korea etc. participated and had fruitful discussion on the matters including the current situation and prospects of the international financial system.

The Deputy Director of Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP) , Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) visited the IIMA.

 On December 6, 2011, the IIMA had a visit of Dr. He Fan, Deputy Director of Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Dr. He is one of the most active young economists in China. Inviting some external intellectuals and with Mr. Sakuma, our General Manager and Chief Economist, as a moderator, we had one and a half hours deep discussion with Dr. He on the matters including Chinese macro-economy, current situation of financial system reform and internationalization of RMB.

The economists of the Institute of Finance and Banking, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences visited the IIMA.

 On September 30, 2011, the IIMA had a visit of

Dr. Hu Bin, Assistant Director, Professor
Dr. Cheng Lian, Associate Professor, and
Dr. Yin Zhentao, Asisstant Professor
from the Institute of Finance and Banking ,Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

We exchanged views and opinions about policy cooperation of finance and foreign exchange rate arrangement in Asia, the internationalization of the Renminbi and various other issues of common interest. We also discussed the possibility of future cooperation between the two institutions in research activities.

Visit to the IIMA of Mr. Hon Cheung and Ms. Catherine Simmons of State Street Group.

 On March 4, 2011, we had a visit of Mr. Hon Cheung and Ms. Catherine Simmons from State Street Group. With Mr. Watanabe, our MD, as a moderator, we had an intensive discussion on the Asian Regional Funds Passporting (a scheme for mutual recognition of fund registrations within the Asian region), including its current status and challenges, its implications on Japan, and its relationship to the regional cooperation in developing Asian bond market by APEC. The discussion was attended by several government officials and private experts and continued for about 2 hours.

Visit to the IIMA of Mr. Kim Phar, Director of Research and Strategy, Foreign Economic Policy Consultancy, Malaysia.

 On February 23, 2011, the IIMA had a visit of Mr. Kim Phar who is an expert on the Turkish foreign policies. Inviting some external intellectuals and with Mr. Watanabe, our MD, as moderator, we had a two-hours' deep discussion with Mr. Phar on the matters including the Turkish foreign policies and country risks surrounding emerging Turkey which has been gaining a greater presence in the Middle East and Central Asia.
